Coffee & Tea Plants
Coffee and tea plants bring two of the world's most popular beverages into the home garden. Interestingly, coffee beans are actually seeds found inside colorful, cherry-like fruits, while traditional black, green, white, and oolong teas all come from the leaves of the same plant, Camellia sinensis. Coffee plants are tropical evergreens that prefer warm, sheltered conditions, while tea plants tolerate cooler temperatures and thrive in acidic, well-drained soil. Both can be grown in suitable Florida locations, offering gardeners a fascinating connection between plants and the beverages enjoyed around the world.
