Loquat Trees
Loquat trees are unusual among fruit trees because they flower during the cooler months and produce their golden-orange fruit in late winter and spring, well before most summer fruits. The juicy fruit has a sweet-tart tropical flavor often compared to a blend of peach, apricot, and citrus. Loquats are evergreen, relatively cold tolerant, and well adapted to Florida, where different varieties offer noticeable differences in fruit size, sweetness, acidity, and harvest season.
