The Ice-Cream Bean, also known as paterna, cushín, joaquiniquil, cuaniquil, guama, or guaba, is a tropical fruit tree native to Central and South America. It is prized for its long green pods filled with fluffy white pulp that has a creamy, vanilla-like flavor, often compared to ice cream. This fast-growing and highly productive tree is also valued for shade and its nitrogen-fixing benefits, making it a great addition to tropical and subtropical landscapes.
