The Mariposa Plum, often called the 'Improved Satsuma', is a popular Japanese blood plum prized for its striking appearance and rich flavor. It produces large, heart-shaped fruit with mottled maroon-green skin and deep red flesh. The flesh is firm, juicy, and exceptionally sweet with a pleasantly tart skin, making it excellent for fresh eating, baking, and preserves.
