The Southern King Pear is a highly regarded low-chill hybrid that combines the rich flavor and classic shape of a European pear with the crisp texture and tree-ripening qualities of an Asian pear. It produces attractive fruit with exceptionally sweet, complex flavor featuring subtle hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Well adapted to warm Southern climates, this productive tree is valued for its low chill requirement, excellent fruit quality, and good resistance to fire blight.
