Pineapple plants are fascinating tropical plants that produce one of the world's most recognizable fruits. Interestingly, a pineapple is not a single fruit but a collection of many individual fruits that fuse together as they develop. Unlike most tropical fruits, pineapples grow from a low-growing rosette of stiff, spiky leaves rather than on trees. Different varieties offer remarkable differences in sweetness, acidity, fruit color, and size, and these unique plants can grow successfully in Florida's warm climate.
