The Abiu (Pouteria caimito) is a tropical fruit tree native to the Amazon region, also found in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. The tree is medium to large with a pyramidal or oval canopy. The fruits are ovoid to round in shape, and often have a short nipple at the top. They have bright yellow peel, white, translucent, and jelly-like pulp, and 1–5 brown seeds.
Taste: Ripe abiu fruits offer a sweet, sugary taste with subtle hints of caramel, maple syrup, vanilla, brown sugar, and custard.
