The Trompo Canistel is a superior, heavy-producing variety selected by the University of Florida, known for its distinctive top-shaped (“trompo”) fruit. It produces large fruit with smooth yellow skin and deep orange pulp that is sweet, dense, and custard-like, often compared to pumpkin, sweet potato, or tropical cheesecake. This variety is highly productive and valued for its excellent eating quality, making it ideal for fresh consumption, smoothies, and desserts. The tree performs well in warm climates and can be maintained at a manageable size for home gardens.
