The Violette de Bordeaux Fig is a French heirloom variety often praised as one of the best-tasting figs in the world. Compact in size yet highly productive, this variety produces small to medium figs with dark purple to almost black skin and deep strawberry-red flesh. Its smaller growth habit makes it ideal for containers and small gardens.

Taste: Intensely sweet, rich, and jammy with berry and wine-like undertones.
Fruit size: Small to Medium
Plant size: 6 – 10 ft tall (easy to manage; great for containers)
Season: Main crop in August – September, may produce a breba crop in early summer.
USDA Zones: 6 – 10 (cold-hardy to ~10°F)
Pollination: Self-pollinating
Requirements: Full sun, well-drained soil, moderate watering; thrives in containers and responds well to pruning
