The Red Cashew is a tropical tree native to South America, valued for both its edible nut and its vibrant red, pear-shaped “cashew apple.” The juicy apple is rich in vitamin C and has a sweet, tangy flavor, often eaten fresh or used in juices and jams. The true fruit is the kidney-shaped nut attached to the bottom, which must be properly processed before consumption. This fast-growing tree is ornamental, drought-tolerant once established, and well suited for warm climates.
