Spice Plants
Spice plants offer a fascinating glimpse into the origins of the flavors and aromas we enjoy every day. Interestingly, spices come from many different parts of plants—cinnamon from bark, ginger and turmeric from underground rhizomes, vanilla from orchid seed pods, and bay leaves from aromatic trees. Other tropical favorites, such as curry leaf, allspice, and pandan, bring distinctive fragrances and flavors to cuisines around the world. Many of these exotic spice plants can be grown in Florida's warm climate, transforming home gardens into living collections of culinary treasures.
