Longan Trees
Longan trees are tropical fruit trees closely related to lychees, producing clusters of small, round fruits with thin brown shells and sweet, translucent flesh. Often called “dragon’s eye” because of the dark seed visible through the peeled fruit, longans have a distinctive flavor with floral, honey-like notes. Unlike lychees, longans generally tolerate Florida’s heat and humidity particularly well, making them an excellent choice for warm, frost-protected gardens. Different varieties offer unique flavors, fruit sizes, and harvest seasons.
