The Purple Caimito, also called Star Apple, is a tropical fruit tree native to the Isthmus of Panama. It is admired both for its ornamental beauty and its delicious fruit. The round fruits have glossy purple skin, and when cut open, reveal a star-shaped pattern in the juicy, translucent pulp.
 
Taste: The flesh is soft, sweet, and mildly aromatic, with grape-like notes; often eaten fresh with a spoon or chilled for a refreshing treat.
