The Ross Sapote is a rare tropical fruit tree closely related to canistel, prized for its exceptionally creamy texture and rich, dessert-like flavor. It produces orange-yellow fruit with smooth, custard-like flesh that is sweet and indulgent, often compared to pumpkin cheesecake, caramel, or eggnog. Unlike many canistel varieties, it has a softer, less dry texture, making it highly desirable for fresh eating and desserts. This moderately growing tree performs well in warm climates and is a favorite among collectors and backyard growers.
