The Santa Rosa Plum is one of the most popular Japanese plum varieties, developed by famed horticulturist Luther Burbank in 1906. It produces medium to large fruit with glossy reddish-purple skin and fragrant amber to red flesh. The flavor is rich, sweet, juicy, and balanced by a pleasantly tart skin, making it excellent for fresh eating, baking, and preserves. This productive and adaptable variety performs well in many climates, including warmer regions with sufficient chill hours.

Tree size: 15 – 20 ft tall (can be kept smaller with pruning)
Fruit size: 1.5 - 3 inches in diameter
Harvest season: Late June – July
Chill hours: Approximately 300 - 500
USDA Zones: 5 – 9
Pollination: Self-fertile, but produces heavier crops with another Japanese plum nearby.
