The Southern Bartlett Pear is a low-chill European pear discovered on an old Louisiana homestead and adapted for warm Southern climates. It produces medium to large fruit with smooth green skin that ripens to golden yellow, sometimes with a light red blush. The flesh is exceptionally juicy, tender, and sweet, offering the classic old-fashioned Bartlett flavor. This productive tree is an excellent choice for home orchards in regions where traditional Bartlett pears struggle to receive enough winter chill.

Tree size: 15 – 20 ft tall (can be kept smaller with pruning)
Fruit size: Medium to large (2.5 - 3.5 inches in diameter)
Harvest season: Late July - early August, and occasionally extends into mid-September
Chill hours: Approximately 350 – 400 hours
USDA Zones: 5 - 9
Pollination: Partially self-fertile, but produces heavier crops with a pollinator.
