Persimmon Trees
Persimmon trees produce beautiful orange fruit with flavors ranging from mild and honey-sweet to rich and almost caramel-like. One of the most interesting differences among persimmons is that some varieties, such as Fuyu, are non-astringent and can be eaten while still firm, while astringent types become wonderfully sweet once fully soft and ripe. Many persimmon varieties grow well in Florida, offering attractive trees, colorful fall fruit, and a harvest that typically arrives when many summer fruits have finished.
